The year is 1929. “Some Like It Hot”. A wonderful movie with a smile and a wink for every fan of good plots and splendid acting. The only reason why I invite you back to remember old movies is to share the magnetic intensity and the unforgettable hand of the title. Whatever the life, everybody likes it hot! And it is our own choice on whether or not we choose to live it out in one of the three roles of Victors, Visitors, and Victims.  Each role has its own, authentic hand.

Victors, Visitors, and Victims are the three principal life positions we live out in response to our life scripts. As we have discussed before the script is the driver, while the life position is how the script is presented to the world.

Life Positions and Goals

Before I go there let me take a little detour.

Your goals and what you ultimately create in your life reflect the life position you adopt in response to your script. These can include:

• Who you will marry?

• How many children you will have?

• What sort of career you will pursue, and within what industry?

• How much money you will make?

• What sort of lifestyle you will enjoy?

• How healthy you will be and what your fitness and diet regimen will be?

Now let’s take a closer look at each of these positions and the behaviours, thoughts, and feelings that underpin them.

Victors

The Victors of the world are those who live out all the positive things from their scripts. They are the leaders of industry as well as the person on the street who does nice things for others for no reason other than from the goodness of his or her heart.

Victors may become world famous or just recognized within family and friendship circles as being genuinely caring of others while also taking care of themselves.

Muriel James and Dorothy Jongeward use the term “winner” to describe this person. In “Born to Win”, they offer this definition: A winner is one who responds authentically by being credible, trustworthy, responsive, and genuine, both as an individual and as a member of a society.

Let me add to the profile by alluding to Horas Jackson Brown: “Chance dances with those already dancing” and Victors love this dance. It runs in their blood.

The main feature that distinguishes a Victor is choice. A Victor chooses his or her work and lifestyle, aiming for the choice that gives the most possible happiness. If circumstances should change, a Victor knows what to do next, and will do it without resentment.

Victors are often heard saying such things as:

• “My life is as good as it can be, because I’m in control of it.”

• “Now that I know what I have to do, it’s easy.”

• “I wonder what else I can do to better my position and the position of my company.”

• “No matter what happens in my life, I’ll be OK.”

Victors are those, when asked “How are you doing” while hanging at the cafe, answer with a smile, without complaining, without taking a breath before dumping a truckload of negative stuff. A bank account to such people is just full enough, as they share each moment granted by life. And in order to make you go back to the golden ages of movie art and provoke you to share with me the impressions from the Victor’s profile, let me finish with another inspiring quote describing the Victor’s nature. Audrey Hepburn: “As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”
